This is the endearing story which begins the Five Little Peppers series.
Ben, Polly, Joel, Davy, and Phronsie Pepper all have their faults like all children, (and one of the reasons why this story is such a winner), fighting, complaining, and having fits sometimes, but through it all sticking to their family, and trying to make each others lives even just a tiny bit brighter.
Polly helps her "Mamsie" with cooking, sewing, and tending to the little ones. Ben has a small job to help earn money as well, and the little ones help in any way they can.
Highlights of the book were when they befriended the lonely rich boy, Jasper, when they make their very own Christmas happen, and Polly and Phronsie's trip to the city.
The Five Little Peppers teach many sweet lessons of love and sacrifice, and also how, even if you don't have much money, you can still have a beautiful life - it's all what you do with the life that's before you.
I would recommend this book for any age as a read aloud, or ages 8-100. :-)

A. A. Milne's unique way of writing makes it a story any age can enjoy.
Recommended for ages 0-100 :-)

M. M. Kaye decided to find out, and as a result wrote this beautiful little fairy tale called "An Ordinary Princess".
At Princess Amy's christening, she gets given the gift of being "ordinary", and grows up to have mousy, plain brown hair, and freckles - much to her mother's dismay.
Amy's sisters all get married to princes, but who will marry Amy? All the princes who come and look at her, suddenly have to leave right away on important business. Finally getting sick of this, Amy runs away, and meets an interesting man-of-all-work, who believes she is just a kitchen girl... What secrets are they both hiding as they begin to fall in love over their picnics in the woods?
I found this story charming and sweet, and simple at the same time. The only thing I didn't really like was the fairy who gives her the gift of being ordinary, who was a bit odd. ;-)
Recommended for children 8 to 99. :-)
